Fillings Parramatta

Filling illustrationTooth decay is one of the most common diseases affecting adults and children. Fortunately, today’s dental fillings look better and are stronger than ever.

Our practice uses tooth-coloured composite fillings, which

  • Are minimally invasive to teeth
  • Blend in with your smile
  • Bond closely with tooth structure
  • Can be placed in a variety of areas (including smooth surfaces)

What to Expect

Getting a dental filling usually requires a 30-45 minute appointment. We’ll gently numb your tooth, remove the damaged portions, then place colour-matching composite down into the opening.

When properly cared for, your new filling can last quite some time. We recommend flossing around it daily to minimize any plaque or food debris around the margins.

Do I Need a Dental Filling?

Fillings are used to treat small to medium-sized cavities, while there is still adequate healthy tooth structure around it. While you may not necessarily feel discomfort in that area, toothaches are not uncommon.

Other symptoms of tooth decay include pain when chewing, food getting caught between teeth and floss shredding or breaking when you clean that space. During your exam we will take a small X-ray to determine the extent of the damage and whether a filling is necessary.

Composite Bonding for Gaps

In addition to treating cavities, composite is also appropriate for bonding over chipped teeth and surface irregularities. With the pliable material, we can cover and re-shape the visible surface of your tooth, helping it appear whole again. Bonding is a conservative alternative to crowns and veneers when only a small area of the tooth needs to be addressed.
